As a first step you should download, fill in and return to info@friendofthesea.org the Preliminary Information Form (PIF). PIFs are available for Aquaculture / Farmed products, Wild-Caught /Fished products or Fishmeal, Fishoil, Fishfeed. Chose the one that fits the origin of the product you wish to be audited. All PIFs information will be kept strictly confidential. PIF does not engage you nor your company to proceed with the audit. Preassessment is free of charge
The PIF is a short and simple 2 pages form which you can fill in rapidly and it will allow Friend of the Sea Advisory Board to assess whether the audit can be authorized. Your fishery of origin for example might be targeting an overexploited, depleted or endangered stock. In that case audit cannot be authorized.
Once you have sent the PIF, you should expect a few days, normally maximum a week. In case the audit will be authorized, you will receive the Audit and Licensing Agreement (ALA). This will be the only document regulating relationship between your company and Friend of the Sea.
The ALA will also indicate the cost of the audit you would agree to by signing.
